Avoiding the common mistakes buyers make at Shisanhang Clothing Wholesale Area
Shisanhang is one of Guangzhou's most famous womenswear and childrenswear blocks, with first-tier domestic brands sitting beside low-end stalls. This guide lists the mistakes buyers make most often.
Confusing the buildings and streets
Shisanhang is a street with buildings on both sides, not one market. Confirm the specific building and floor before you set out, and re-check on arrival.
Trading runs roughly 08:00-19:00, but core stock moves early. Plan to arrive in the morning for first pick.
Misjudging the floor plan
A common pattern is womenswear on the 1st-2nd floors, mixed menswear and womenswear on the 3rd, and menswear on the 4th-5th. Floors and tenants change, so treat this as orientation rather than a fixed map.
The mistake is buying top-floor menswear at street-floor prices, or judging a whole building by its entrance stalls. Walk two floors before you judge.
Mixing tiers without asking
The same street carries everything from low-end pieces to first-tier domestic brands. Price alone does not separate them.
Ask whether the stall is original design, a licensed brand reproduction, or a graded imitation. Put the answer in your order note.
Misreading wholesale versus retail
Most stalls are wholesale first. Some allow single pieces at a higher price, which is useful for samples but not for repeat orders.
Ask for both the taking price and the packing price, and the minimum quantity behind each.
Skipping quality checks on pretty goods
Colour, print alignment and trim are where Shisanhang pieces fail. Check these on the sample, and compare two or three stalls before committing to a run.
Photograph the sample with the ticket in frame so the record stays with the goods.
No consolidation plan
Decide before you buy whether pieces go in luggage, a pallet via your forwarder, or a later consolidation.
For station-area days, lunch is the natural consolidation point; sort and label before you move on.
We do not publish verified per-stall pricing; negotiate and re-check on the floor.
